In the snow-white Tibetan mountains, where it is difficult to breathe, a transcendental tradition has survived thousands of years, crossing the timeline. This religion is older than Buddhism



 Today, most of Tibet is under the shadow of Buddhism. But the interesting thing is that before Buddhism entered Tibet, the practices of this forest religion were in place. There is no clear idea about how ancient the forest religion of Tibet is, but it is said that this religion is about 3000-4000 years old.


According to some sources, the forest religion existed even before 3000 BC. The word 'ban' is derived from the Banpo language, which in Bengali means 'invoking the gods'. There are four people sitting on the seats of the main gods and goddesses of Bon religion. The main deity of this religion is Satrig Ersang, whose name means 'wisdom'. She is often described as 'Sherab Chamma', the goddess of knowledge. Each color is associated with a different Bon deity. As such, the Goddess's color is white.


Shenlah Okar is known as the 'God of Wisdom of the Bright Light'. He is the god of knowledge and light. Besides this he controls the sky and the weather. Hence, Bon worshipers pray to Shenlah Okar for good weather.


The third is 'Sangpo Bumtri'. Bon religion was created through this god. He is involved in cosmology.


As a guide, followers of the Bon religion worship the deity Tanpa Shenrab Myuchi. Although Tsangpo Bumtri was responsible for the creation of the forest religion, Tanpa Shenrab developed its rituals. In ancient Tibet he was regarded as the greatest teacher, who traveled everywhere teaching peace and progress.

Many ghouls and ghosts are also present in the legends of Bon religion. The most notorious of these is a ghost called 'Agye', who is responsible for spreading disease and illness. He is often described as a ferocious demonic being, with a crown of skulls on his head and a huge snake coiled around his body. To protect the society from the evil eye of the past, the Tantrics of the Bon religion take the help of broom-blowing and sacred mantras.


A demon named Shri is also greatly feared by the Bon people. According to belief, Sri kills pregnant women and children. With sharp teeth, violent expression, Shri's fearsome body instills a sense of terror among the people of the death


Complications with death  



The understanding of life and death in Bon religion is very good. Rather than seeing death as the end of life in this religion, it is considered a natural cycle of birth, death and rebirth.


According to this religion, when a person dies his soul ascends to a higher world known as Bardo. The soul has to stay in this bardo until the soul is purified and the process of rebirth begins. Its duration is 49 days. During this period of 49 days the soul observes many peaceful and wrathful states, and encounters many gods and deities. This preparation is done as part of the sending of this soul to earth and the next life.

There is no such thing as hell in the Bon religion. Based on the actions of this birth, his next life will be determined. Since the Bon religion believes in pantheism, people can reincarnate into the world as anything. If he does good work in the world, he can be reborn in the world as a person, animal or tree. Witchcraft and Mantras

Bon Magic is commonly referred to as 'Foa'. It contains the insertion of sacred mantras and words. It is believed that forest healers can cure physical and mental ailments with powerful mantras. Also predictions are done through witchcraft to make accurate guesses and avoid potential trouble.
