Death of Larry the CatÂ
Senior British officials have devised a detailed plan for announcing the death of Larry the Cat.
Over the past year, senior British officials at 10 Downing Street developed a communication plan for announcing the death of Larry the cat, the pet of the Prime Minister's residence.
This plan, codenamed "Larry’s Bridges," mirrors the detailed strategies used for announcing the deaths of senior royal family members, according to the Times of London. For example, the plan for Queen Elizabeth II’s death was called Operation London Bridge, and the plan for King Charles’s death is known as Operation Menay Bridge, named after the Menai Suspension Bridge in Wales. Â

Larry, often regarded as a "monarch" among pets, had been a fixture at Downing Street since the era of Prime Minister David Cameron, who initially appointed him as "in charge of mice." Despite the departure of several Prime Ministers—including Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak—Larry remained a constant presence in the residence.
A source from the Times confirmed that the "Larry Bridges" plan was created to manage the announcement of his death with the necessary sensitivity.
