Tia Clayton's family anticipates a gold medal performance in Paris.
The family of sprinter Tia Clayton is hopeful for a gold medal performance this afternoon in the women’s 100m at the Paris Olympic Games.
Tia, along with fellow Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sashalee Forbes, will compete in the semi-finals.
Family members, including her father Kadian and mother Tishana Pinnock-Williams, have gathered in their community of Crowder, Grange Hill, Westmoreland, to support her.
Tia made her Olympic debut on Friday, finishing second in her heat with a time of 11.00 seconds, behind Canada's Audrey Ludec, who set a national record with 10.95 seconds.
“My expectation is to get the gold,” said her father, beaming with pride.

Her mother, with a smile, added, “I think she’s going to do her best. She’s a little nervous since it’s her first major event outside of Champs, but I believe she’ll execute the race well.”
Kadian described Tia as a devoted daughter who loves to run, a sentiment echoed by her mother. He reminisced about how Tia and her twin sister Tina, also a sprinter, used to race to the shop as children. Both parents are thrilled to see their daughters achieving their dreams in athletics.
